Welcome.
This web page contains a practical behaviour management ‘first
aid kit’ originally produced to assist early childhood
staff and families supporting children with challenging behaviours
in the Northern Sydney Network. Due to the popularity of
the document, it was decided to post it on this web site
for the use of new services and families outside the Northern
Sydney Network.
The document is a ‘starter kit’ for staff to
download, update and expand. It’s brief, easy to read
format is full of workable suggestions and ideas for both
staff and families. The information sheets for families are
coloured yellow on the PDF file for quick identification.
In order to reflect the reality of today’s
diverse approaches to behaviour management, this document
contains
articles by various authors describing a range of approaches.
Although this creates complexity for both early childhood
staff and families, it also provides readers with the rationale
or the approach they may feel most comfortable adopting.
Additionally, children are individuals, and different approaches
suit different children.
You have three options on this web
page:
We hope this document will be of benefit to early childhood
staff, families and children. Enjoy!
