Funding sources for children with additional needs

1. Child Disability Allowance

  • For parents and guardians of a child with a disability.
  • Contact: Centrelink


2. New South Wales State Funding -Department of Community Services

  • Funding for children with Additional Needs in an inclusive Preschool program
  • Available to Pre-schools only
  • Contact: Local Department of Community Services Children's Services Adviser


3. Commonwealth Funding
A) Department of Education, Training, Youth Affairs Intervention Support Program - Young Children with Disabilities

  • For children with disabilities aged birth to six years
  • Eligible services to apply: Pre-schools; non-profit community-based Long Day Care Centres; legally incorporated organisations
  • Contact: This funding is distributed through NSW Department of Education and Training Phone 9266 8222

B) Department of Family and Community Services - Supplementary Workers Program (SUPS)

  • All Commonwealth funded child-care services are eligible
  • This includes: Long Day Care Centres; Out of School Hours Services; Family Day Care; Vacation Care; Occasional Care Centres

C) Department of Family and Community Services - Special Needs Subsidy Scheme (SNSS)

  • For children with ongoing high support needs attending one of the above Commonwealth funded services.
  • Funding given based on individual applications
